New English Films You Won’t Want to Miss

There’s no doubt that the most popular movie-going market in the world is America, but one has to wonder why the rest of the world can’t seem to replicate their success on an international level. Could it be that Americans have been exposed to more quality films than people from other countries? It’s possible, and you don’t have to look further than the National Film Registry to find proof. To celebrate this rich cinematic history, here are ten recent English films that any true cinephile won’t want to miss.

The Favourite

This new film tells the story of two cousins tvlinkscom vying for the affections of their sickly queen. The Favourite is a delicious, dark comedy that will have you hooked from the first scene. Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz give career-best performances, and the entire cast is excellent. If you’re looking for a film that’s funny, smart, and full of twists, The Favourite is a must-see. It comes out on Netflix February 1st! Another great film coming out soon is Mary Queen of Scots. Starring Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie, this intense biopic shows both sides of the infamous Scottish queen – her brilliance as well as her flaws. With plenty of violence and intrigue, this movie keeps you guessing until the very end. Plus it’ll be in theaters March 29th!

A Quiet Place

The film has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. It is currently sitting at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus being A Quiet Place artfully plays on elemental fears with a terrifying and emotionally charged journey that’s as original as it is bold. It stars John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cade Woodward, Jessica Jones Kerr, Jacob Tremblay and Leon Russom.

 If you’re a fan of horror, sci-fi and thrillers then this movie might be for you. Audiences are saying they’re impressed by how they use sound in this movie and how they can feel what the characters are feeling throughout their experience in the movie theater. Critics are saying this is one of those movies where if someone talks during it, you’ll know who did because there isn’t much dialogue but not much is needed to tell this story. And finally, IMDB says: A family seeks refuge from unstoppable monsters who hunt by sound in silence.

Isle of Dogs

Wes Anderson’s latest stop-motion movie follows a pack of dogs on an island off the coast of Japan. The film has an all-star cast, including Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Bryan Cranston, and Scarlett Johansson. Isle of Dogs is a heartwarming and humorous tale that is sure to be one of the best films of the year. It is available in theaters March 23rd! Don’t miss it!

On February 23, 2018 , Fox Searchlight released Darkest Hour . Directed by Joe Wright, who was nominated for an Oscar for Atonement , this World War II biopic tells how Winston Churchill rose from being a nobody to Prime Minister at one of Britain’s darkest hours. Gary Oldman plays Churchill with his usual spot-on intensity and clarity that he showed with other award-winning roles like Sid Vicious in Sid & Nancy (1986) or as Sirius Black in Harry Potter . So far it’s earned over $80 million domestically; if you haven’t seen it yet you can watch Darkest Hour online now !

Peter Rabbit

Based on the classic Beatrix Potter book, this new film tells the story of Peter Rabbit and his fight with Mr. McGregor. The live action/CGI film has an all-star cast, including James Corden as the voice of Peter Rabbit. The film is set to be released in early 2018. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

A new adventure awaits in this magical and fantastical world, filled with larger-than-life beasts and colorful characters. Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, a magizoologist who arrives in New York City with a briefcase full of dangerous creatures. When some of Newt’s beasts escape from the case, it sets off a frantic search to find them before they cause more havoc. This film is sure to be a visual treat for Harry Potter fans and newcomers alike. The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton and Colin Farrell.
