Maharashtra: Man sends Army area pics to Pakistan WhatsApp group, arrested
A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly taking images of a defence space at Deolali right here in Maharashtra and sending the photographs to a WhatsApp group in Pakistan, police stated on Sunday.
Deolali in Nashik district homes defence institutions just like the School of Artillery, Artillery Centre and the Combat Army Aviation Training School.
The accused, Sanjeev Kumar, was caught by some troopers on Friday whereas he was clicking photos on his cell phone of the Military Hospital space in Deolali Camp, the place images or video capturing isn’t allowed, a police official stated.
The troopers seized his cell phone and through an inquiry, discovered that he had allegedly despatched the pictures to a WhatsApp group in Pakistan, the official stated.
He was handed over to Deolali Camp police on Saturday night.
Based on a police criticism by an Army officer, the person was arrested and a case was registered towards him underneath provisions of the Official Secrets Act, the police stated.
The accused, initially hailing from Gopalganj district in Bihar, lived in a settlement close to the Deolali Camp railway station and labored as a labourer at a development web site within the army space, they stated.
